Join the MOCA Store for a spooktacular evening with Los Angeles-based video artist Jennifer Juniper Stratford and the small press Bibliomancers as they launch their new book celebrating Stratford’s lifelong VHS obsession. The event will feature a wild “channel surf” through the best of JJ’s Telefantasy Studios video archive, including a special presentation by the artist of a Pagan Panic Halloween Special!

Following the screening, Stratford and Bibliomancers will engage in a discussion about the new book dedicated to Stratford's VHS passion. Attendees will also have the opportunity to have their copies signed by the artist.

Jennifer Juniper Stratford is a director, photographer, and video artist from Hollywood, California. Inspired by a love of video art, outsider cinema, and experimental animation, her work feels like something you might catch on late-night cable or on an obscure video cassette.

Bibliomancers is a small press created and owned by Los Angeles-based occult collage artist Astraleyes. Together with his longtime friend and partner in crime, curator, designer, and concept artist Eric Nordhauser, they have created a series of esoterically themed books documenting their obsessions.

American Visionary Art Museum's 20th original exhibition champions life's grand "Aha!" and "Eureka!" moments, held in common by Earth's most dynamic and intuitive "evolutionaries:" inventors, scientists, America's founding fathers, dreamers and saints; each touched by some lightening bolt of greater understanding, insight, grace and muse. Co-curated by acclaimed filmmaker and book publisher Jodi Wille (The Source Family, 2012), and AVAM founder and director Rebecca Alban Hoffberger, this exhibition's highlights include: a spirited centennial celebration of America's most prolific self-tutored and "on fire" artist, Rev. The new show i am in
The term Archaic Revival is a reference to Terence Mckenna’s 1992 book The Archaic Revival: Speculations on Psychedelic Mushrooms, the Amazon, Virtual Reality, UFOs, Evolution, Shamanism, the Rebirth of the Goddess, and the End of History, which hypothesizes that civilization’s current state of distress has resulted in a grappling into our collective memory and the “morphic resonance” of our past 3.5 million years for steading metaphors that reconnect us to the entelechy of the planet: the Gaian mind. Terence Mckenna (1946–2000) was an American writer, philosopher, ethnobotanist, mystic and prophet who advocated paths of shamanism and the use of plant-based psychedelics as a means of increasing many forms of human awareness.
